Winter Treks in India, the question often arises in your mind, what to do during the winter holidays? What activities and places can we enjoy during these colder months of the year? And what if I said there were places that were perfect for you and your family? And what if you could visit some of the most beautiful places on earth and be captivated by the beauty of nature. And what could be a better place for natural beauty than a wonderful trip to the mountains?
Yes, you read that right, hiking isn’t often considered a winter pastime, mainly because people think the mountains will be very cold and they’re partly right, but you have to focus on beauty. You need to consider and experience what these cold arid regions have to offer during these winter months.
Here are some of the best winter treks you can go through this holiday season, so what are you waiting for? A sign from heaven? Start planning and stacking suitcases for the next adventure of your life!
Kedarkantha Winter Treks
Difficulty: Mild to moderate
Location: Gaichawan Village, Uttarakhand
Duration: 6 days
There is no need for a presentation of the Kedarkantha hike and the hike has become popular. It has charming campsites, a breathtaking climb to the top and is undoubtedly one of the best winter experiences in the Himalayas. Many hikers have this as their bucket list hike, and it’s justified because you don’t meet such winter treks every day.
Dayara Bugyal Winter Trek
Difficulty: Mild to moderate
Regionas: Raithal, Uttarakhand
Duration: 6 days
It’s one hike we love mostly because it’s such a comfortable climb, but it gives such a big return. We never expected this amazing view and experience to be so easy on a hike! And during the winter season, it’s even more beautiful – the dazzling white snow and the pleasantly cool weather covering the meadows.
While this hike is fairly easy to climb, it’s great for families and beginners during the winter. But don’t let that deter you if you’re an experienced hiker – you can go on this hike ten times in a row and not sweat. We would also recommend this hike to those who have already done so during the summer or monsoon season. The only reason is a completely different hike in the winter.
Deoriatal – Chandrashila Winter Trek
Difficulty: Mild to moderate
Regionas: Sari, Utarakhand
Duration: 6 days
It’s one of those treks we love immensely. It was once one of the most popular winter treks in India. However, its popularity declined when the Forest Department closed some important camps. However, several new alternative camps have now been set up. That’s why we recommend going back to this great hike.
The trail, of course, remains as enchanting as ever with its throbbing forests, lake and fun climb to Tungnath Temple and Chandrasila Peak.
This hike pays a very unreasonable reward for sincere efforts. You will see almost all the amazing peaks of the Indian Himalayas, including Mount Nanda Devi, which is the highest peak in India. And in winter you will definitely feel the snow. If the dates are on your schedule, you should book this trip without thinking.
